Dear STEM Ambassadors

We have commissioned Helix Research and Evaluation (Margaret Macadam and Ruth Townsley) to conduct a review of the Campus’s public engagement programme.

As part of this review, we are seeking insight from Campus staff and students who are actively involved in engaging the public with their research and/or in supporting and leading public engagement initiatives on and off Campus. We are particularly interested to explore your experiences as STEM Ambassadors and your thoughts on future strategic priorities.

Margaret and Ruth from Helix are planning a focus group aimed at STEM Ambassadors on Wednesday 20th November, from 11:00-12:00, and would like to invite you to take part. The focus group will take place in the Conference Centre and there will be tea and coffee available. Due to space restrictions, and the need to ensure all participants have a chance to contribute, we may need to work on a first reply basis. We hope this is something that you will want to participate in, and we will really value your input.

Your feedback will be synthesised and used to inform the review we are undertaking for the Public Engagement team.  A letter of endorsement from Ken Skeldon (Head of Public Engagement) is attached. Any information you provide will be treated as confidential and stored securely. If any material is reported which would make you or your work/research identifiable, Helix will seek your consent before sharing this material with the Public Engagement team or more widely.

If you would like to participate, please could you complete and return the consent form attached? Helix will then be in touch with more details of the focus group. With your agreement, they would like to audio-record the session, for recall purposes.

Please do contact enage@wgc.org.uk if you have any questions, concerns, or wish to know more about this review.

Thank you for your help with this review.

Best wishes
