Hi STEM Ambassadors
We have a group of 50 Year 5 and year 6 pupils (8-10 yrs) from Sawtry Junior Academy visiting the campus between 10am and 2:00 pm on the 10th March. We are running parallel activities with the group across the campus. We are
looking for STEM Ambassadors who could support the visiting by taking part in or running the following activities:
“Technicians activity” x 2 (30 minutes or 2 x 15 minutes rotating groups of 12 students)
An activity that shows different skills needed in your job – this could be hands on lab skills like pipetting, microscope work, animal care skills, bioinformatics or coding skills.
DNA extraction session for 25 students x 2
Help students to extract DNA from a strawberry using household items and help them to carry out a variation investigation and report their results
Meet the expert (30 minutes) x 2
Groups of students rotate around different staff working at the campus to find out more about what they do as a job.
DNA bracelets and code crackers for 25 students (30 minutes) x 2
Help students to make a DNA bracelet and help them to decode DNA codes.
