Dear STEM Ambassadors,
Can you help with an upcoming school visit? The visit is on Wednesday 6th November at Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill and runs from 08.55 to 13.10. The students are year 7 (age 11-12).
The activities highlight the importance of cells and involve a guessing game, where students need to identify a cell's function then put it on the right place in the body. We will go through the activities with you beforehand so you are comfortable on the day.
Any expenses for the visit will be reimbursed.
If you'd like to take part, or if you would like any more information about the visit or activities, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting engage(a)wgc.org.uk<mailto:engage@wgc.org.uk>
Best wishes,
Public Engagement team

Dear STEM Ambassadors,
We are looking for some help for an upcoming school visit. It is happening at Thomas Gainsborough School in Sudbury, Suffolk (CO10 0NH) on Thursday 31st October. It is a 'research enrichment' day for their year 7, 8 and 9 classes where there will be several activities relating to genomics and cell biology, including DNA origami and cell snap. There will also be a focus on what different jobs in science look like.
The activities will be teacher-led, but we are looking for STEM Ambassadors to give a short presentation, including about themselves and their work, and then circulate around the classes to check up on the activities.
We will cover any expenses for the visit.
If you'd like to take part, please let us know by emailing engage(a)wgc.org.uk<mailto:engage@wgc.org.uk>
Best wishes,
Public Engagement team

Dear STEM Ambassadors,
We're running an activity at the Norwich Science Festival on Tuesday 22nd October at the Forum, Norwich. The theme for this day of the festival is 'Our Natural World' and we are running an activity to show the global reach of the Vertebrate Genomes Project, which has sequenced the genomes of vertebrates from all over the world. This is to highlight the benefits of international collaboration in science.
The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm but we can organise shorter shifts. We will cover any food and transport costs for you to attend the event. We will also go through the activity with you beforehand so you will be comfortable running it on the day.
You do not need a DBS certificate to take part in this activity.
This is a great opportunity to engage with an audience who aren't often given the chance to find out about the work we do here on campus. If you'd like to get involved, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing engage(a)wgc.org.uk<mailto:engage@wgc.org.uk>
Best wishes,
