Dear STEM ambassadors
We need you this Saturday for our regular Open Saturday event when the public are able to explore the campus. We have over 120 people booked, from the young to the... not so young, so are you available to come along and share your passion for your work with the campus' visitors? There are a few ways that you can be involved:
* Open Lab - join us in Open Lab where visitors get an introduction to the campus and then talk with campus staff about genomics and biodata.
* Steward - join us in the Genome Gallery to assist people in the space, help with an activity and talk about the work we do here on campus.
* Data Centre - enable visitors to explore campus data as part of a new experience being developed in the Data Centre.
If you're free from 1-4pm this Saturday and would like to be involved please get in touch with us at engage(a)wgc.org.uk<mailto:engage@wgc.org.uk>. We will cover your travel expenses to get to and from campus.
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes
Steve

Dear STEM Ambassadors,
Would you like to take part in our Life Lab event happening later this month? We're looking for some extra help with our 'extracting DNA from strawberries' activity at the Life Lab event at Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough on Saturday 28th September.
We can provide training for anyone not familiar with the activity. As always, we will cover your expenses for attending the event. You do not need a completed DBS check to take part.
If you'd like to take part, please let us know by emailing engage(a)wgc.org.uk<mailto:engage@wgc.org.uk>
Best wishes,
Public Engagement team

Hi all,
I am running three activities to do with bacteria / antibiotics with the
WGC campus for European Researcher's Night at Ely Cathedral on Saturday
28th September and I am looking for a few more volunteers.
The three activities are:
1. Looking at human cheek cells, onion cells and different types of
bacteria under the microscope with plastic models to help participants
understand what they are seeing (3yrs - adult)
2. A simple card game where participants have to decide what action they
would take to protect someone from different infections. (7yrs - adult)
3. A floor game rolling soft balls ('antibiotic') to try and hit the
'bad' bacteria without hitting the 'good' ones - particularly aimed at
smaller children (3-8)
The activities are all very straightforward and I can go through them
all with you before hand. All the activities have been alot of fun at
the past few festivals so it should be a fun day!
The time slots are either 10.00-1.00 or 1.00-4.30
Please let me know if you would be able to volunteer,
I am visiting the EBI part-time so can meet with you on campus to go
through things as needed.
Many thanks,
Lowri
Hi All,
The next STEM ambassador get together is going to be held on Thursday 19th September between 12:00pm - 1:00pm in the Discovery Zone (Sulston Building). This is a great chance to meet other STEM ambassadors and to find out more about our latest engagement opportunities.
As always, lunch is FREE! You are also welcome to bring along your own lunch if you prefer.
Please RSVP to this invite if you're planning to come so we know how much lunch to order!
There is a chance we'll run out of capacity in the room as our ambassador numbers grow so we are operating on a first-come first-served basis.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Best Wishes,
The Public Engagement Team
Hi.
Is anyone going to the Business Forum Meeting for STEM Ambassadors on 3 September 2019 from 8.30 to 10.30 at TWI Grant Park? If so, would you mind giving me a lift afterwards to get to Campus (I will be dropped off in the morning)?
Thanks,
Nicole
