Hi all,
We now have provisional dates for the A/C install In R1-47.
This will be from June 27th for 4 days.
Access will still be possible to the room but should be minimised for the duration.

Hi all,
Please see below updates relating to the RSF labs:
Lighting timers:
- The lights in the corridor are controlled by a light switch located by the seating area as you first enter the RSF. These lights have been confirmed to not be on a timer. Please can I ask all users to not turn off the corridor lights, if you do find the lights off please turn them on before entering the corridor. Additional signage has been added to clearly mark the switch.
- The timer lighting in the lab spaces has been disabled and should not turn off automatically. If you encounter lights turning off automatically please let me know.
[cid:image002.jpg@01DAA77D.EC73E5E0]
LED Lighting:
- All lighting in the building is being swapped to LED lighting to improve brightness and standardise hue. An example of the new lighting is visible in R1-42. These works are awaiting final approval from sustainability and will then commence, communications of any disruption will be sent out in advance.
Freezer Room temperature:
- As you may be aware there was a flooding incident in the freezer room, this was due to a temporary cooler in the room not being plumbed to drain the water. This has now been removed.
- Two dedicated ceiling mounted chillers/AC's are being installed currently in the room which should resolve any overheating.
R1-46 CO2 install:
- A CO2 line will be installed in this room in the next month, this should not cause disruption for more than an hour or two in the actual space.
Generator repairs:
- Approval has been given for the repair/replacement of the emergency generator that should service the RSF, these works are ongoing, once emergency power has been restored an email will be sent round to confirm.
- In the meantime essential equipment has been placed on UPS's , this applies only to equipment that would suffer disruption in the event of a 15 minute power cut. Some incubators containing equipment vulnerable to disruption have also been placed on UPS's additional signage has been put in place to indicate which.
Noise Testing:
- Is still ongoing, the data from the latest noise tests is being analysed and results will be communicated out.
Equipment Moves:
- The Fume cupboard in R1-126 has now been moved to F313b.
- A Mini-fuge for spinning down reagents has been added to R1-126.
- UPS's have been added to R1-125
- A printer install is still ongoing, due to the lack of suitable network socket this is taking longer than planned.
- A phone is planned to be installed in R1-126 in the next few weeks.
R1-42 Refurb:
- Refurbishment of the space is on-going, with most equipment now on site, critical path items outstanding are the incubators and additional benching for the space which is hoped to arrive in June.
- Air-handling is still being worked on as it was discovered during the Nikon demo it had cut out in the space.
General lab practices
- As a reminder all users are expected to maintain the space at a reasonable level of cleanliness, please do not overfill bins and please do empty them when they are full.
- If an emergency or critical situation arises please ensure you alert cellgenlab(a)sanger.ac.uk<mailto:cellgenlab@sanger.ac.uk> or have them CC'd when contacting a room manager to alert them, this allows coverage in the event they are sick or on annual leave.

Hi there,
I believe myself and Kazumasa were planning on coming in on Monday to do media changes. Time TBD, but I’m sure we can work around Angela’s schedule if the noise monitoring doesn’t take too long.
Best,
Maddy

Hello
To follow up on my email below about noise monitoring in R1-26, would it be possible to access both R-126 and R1-25 on Monday 6th May (Bank Holiday) to monitor and record noise? Recording the noise will enable me to do tonal analysis of the MSCs and noise within the labs.
The rationale for doing these recordings on Monday is that the labs might not be as busy and, therefore, I should not be disturbing the work.
If this suggestion is feasible please let me know.

Hi Angela,
Is there any progress on the below please? Facilities came and measured the labs before Christmas so hopefully you have all the information that you need? It would be good to share the results of this at the space management meeting or RSF LC meeting soon.
Best wishes,
Vicky

Hello
I have the results for the monitoring of the MSCs in the RSF. For completion and to provide detail about any potential reverberation in the labs I have requested building fabric and dimensions from Estates and Facilities. They may get in touch with you to access the labs to confirm the information that they have.
If you have any queries please get in touch
Kind regards
Angela

Hi Angela,
If it’s ok, I would like to give users a bit more notice to make sure they’re not planning any sensitive experiments. Does this time work?
Also are you planning on testing both R1-126 and R1-125? There are 4 MSCs in each of those rooms?
Best wishes,
Vicky

Hi all,
Is anyone planning on accessing the RSF labs this coming Monday, and if so, what time? Angela is suggesting she can do the noise monitoring then with the hope it will be less intrusive.
Best wishes,
Vicky

Subject: Noise Monitoring
Thank you
Angela

Hello
Would it be possible to access R1-26 to take a video recording of the noise in the area? For this I require all the MSCs on. I can do this for when people are working and I will ensure that nobody is taken in the video. The video is for tonal analysis.
Thank you
Angela

Hello
There was a noise coming from an piece of equipment that was interfering with the noise monitoring. The equipment was the ventilated chemical cabinet. To discount this background I have had to look into the cabinet specifications.

Hi Angela,
Ok thank you – please may I ask the reason weren’t able to do R1-125? I did tell everyone it was scheduled for then and booked the hoods out, so I apologise if there was an issue. If it just took longer than expected that’s fine, I just want to make sure you weren’t turned away after I gave everyone notice!
Anyway, no worries- I’ll try and find another time slot for R1-125 and get back to you.
Best wishes,
Vicky

I was able to complete the noise monitoring for Lab R1-126 but not for R1-125. Would it be possible to get 1.5hr time slot to complete the noise monitoring for R1-125.
Thank you

Hello
Sorry to hear you are unwell. I should have access to the RSF and your labs. It would be good to meet somebody just for me to check that I am operating your MSCs correctly. I have used a similar model but I have noticed that different teams on Campus have different procedures for start-up and shut down.
Thank you
Angela

@Jack Palmer<mailto:jp37@sanger.ac.uk>/ @Madelyn Moy<mailto:mm59@sanger.ac.uk> – I’ve not had any response from Teichmann team on the doodle poll I sent around- is there an hour on any of the days above where you would be happy for the tissue processing room to be off-limits so Angela can carry out the extra noise testing?
