Hi there,
I believe myself and Kazumasa were planning on coming in on Monday to do media changes. Time TBD, but I’m sure we can work around Angela’s schedule if the noise monitoring doesn’t take too long.
Best,
Maddy

Hello
To follow up on my email below about noise monitoring in R1-26, would it be possible to access both R-126 and R1-25 on Monday 6th May (Bank Holiday) to monitor and record noise? Recording the noise will enable me to do tonal analysis of the MSCs and noise within the labs.
The rationale for doing these recordings on Monday is that the labs might not be as busy and, therefore, I should not be disturbing the work.
If this suggestion is feasible please let me know.
Thank you

Hi Angela,
Ok thank you – please may I ask the reason weren’t able to do R1-125? I did tell everyone it was scheduled for then and booked the hoods out, so I apologise if there was an issue. If it just took longer than expected that’s fine, I just want to make sure you weren’t turned away after I gave everyone notice!
Anyway, no worries- I’ll try and find another time slot for R1-125 and get back to you.

Hi Angela,
If it’s ok, I would like to give users a bit more notice to make sure they’re not planning any sensitive experiments. Does this time work?
Also are you planning on testing both R1-126 and R1-125? There are 4 MSCs in each of those rooms?

Hi all,
Is anyone planning on accessing the RSF labs this coming Monday, and if so, what time? Angela is suggesting she can do the noise monitoring then with the hope it will be less intrusive.
Best wishes,

Subject: Noise Monitoring
Thank you
Angela

Hello
Would it be possible to access R1-26 to take a video recording of the noise in the area? For this I require all the MSCs on. I can do this for when people are working and I will ensure that nobody is taken in the video. The video is for tonal analysis.
Thank you

There was a noise coming from an piece of equipment that was interfering with the noise monitoring. The equipment was the ventilated chemical cabinet. To discount this background I have had to look into the cabinet specifications.

Hi Angela,
Ok thank you – please may I ask the reason weren’t able to do R1-125? I did tell everyone it was scheduled for then and booked the hoods out, so I apologise if there was an issue. If it just took longer than expected that’s fine, I just want to make sure you weren’t turned away after I gave everyone notice!
Anyway, no worries- I’ll try and find another time slot for R1-125 and get back to you.
Best wishes,
Vicky

Sorry to hear you are unwell. I should have access to the RSF and your labs. It would be good to meet somebody just for me to check that I am operating your MSCs correctly. I have used a similar model but I have noticed that different teams on Campus have different procedures for start-up and shut down.
Thank you

Hi all,
The annual service of the MSCs is due, with the following rooms/ hoods affected on the dates below-
R1-125 (tissue processing room)
Friday 26th April – Hood 2
Monday 29th April – Hoods 1, 3 and 4
R1-126 (organoid room)
Monday 29th April – all hoods
All MSCs will need to be cleaned the (working) day before the service, and the EVOs will need to be removed from the MSC in the tissue processing room for the day.
I have time on Thursday morning (24th) the help support with the above, I’ll put labels on the MSCs so we can mark on them which ones have been cleaned so not to duplicate effort, please let me know if you’re able to help so I can make sure there’s enough of us to get them all ready.
It has also been brought to my attention that it’s probably time we put in a cleaning rota for the hoods in the tissue processing room (there is already one in place in the organoid room), I’ll follow this up in the next Cell Gen lab meeting.
Best wishes,
Vicky

This shouldn’t affect any work but if anyone is planning on using the Nikon on the 15th, just be aware they will need to access the room for a short period of time.

Dear All
Please see below details of an access road closure...
What are we doing?
Replacing the RSF Effluent Flow Meter.
What is involved?
In order to have safe access to the works location, we will require closing off the access road adjacent to the RSF and Data Centre.
When does the work start?
The works are planned to start Saturday 16th March, morning time from 08:00 to 17:00.
How long will the work take?
One day
How will this affect me?
Please stay away from this area and take note of the warning signs, please don’t remove any barriers as they are in place for your safety. The road will be closed off so please use the Sulston underground car park to access South Road.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Hi All,
Please note that the main door into the RSF is not closing properly, please make sure it's shut behind you.
I've put a note on the door and have raised a CAFM ticket.
Thanks,

Hi all,
Angela from H&S has carried out some testing on the noise levels emitted by the MSCs in both rooms. She presented the data from these recordings last week at the RSF LC meeting, but has requested that she has an hour in each room to do more in-depth recordings before she gives us her final recommendations.
Please indicate on the doodle poll below if any of these times work (based on Angela’s current diary availability) and then I’ll run it past her to see if she’s free.
https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/boAgyNKe
On top of this, we also need to allow Sotham’s another hour where the lights will be off in both rooms so they can repair the emergency lighting, I’ll look at the doodle link first and then add more dates if there’s not enough options there.
Best wishes,
Vicky

Hi all,
As you may know the sink in R1-125 sprung a leak. This has turned out to be the regulator for the RO water so it has now been isolated.
You can continue to use the sink, but there will be no RO water until the regulator can be replaced.
Please be careful around the sink area, absorbent mats have been placed and the area mopped but it is still residually damp.
