Hi,
As promised at the meeting please see below a bit of information about the Paludiculture project beginning at the great Fen project.

And also attached is a leaflet offering opportunities to come out and help with the planting!
The Winter Walk around the Wetland was very successful!
There were 26 attendees and considering the time of year we saw quite a lot. I got most of the group smelling otter spraint, which is always a highlight for me! We also found green woodpecker droppings and saw a pigmy shrew!
All the best.

Hi All,
The Wetlands work planned for this week was postponed due to water levels and potential for flooding in the wetlands.
We would like to try and get the 3 days work in before Spring but that window is closely rapidly, in advance of our meeting next week does anyone have any thoughts on when we cannot do the work from due to wildlife, ground nesting birds in the area described below?
The work will be:
- Tree roots removal on the southern edge of pond 1 (large pond) and west side of pond 4 (the one with all the trees at the side of it) - these areas are right next to eachother to reduce disturbance to the rest of the Wetlands and are also near the summer walk between the ponds and only just across the main path from the plant material collection area.
- Vegetation removal of boundary on the southern edge of pond 1 - again same area as above.
Therefore, the disturbance will be approx. 20m into the Wetlands along the summer path between the ponds from the permissive path, and some disturbance to the path (that we will clean up to make access possible straight after the works along the permissive path). As it is a much smaller area than the works last year I am hopeful that the disturbance will not impact on the wider area and ecosystem.
Your thoughts very welcome please.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi All,
We have confirmed Wetlands work for Monday 24th Feb to Wednesday 26th Feb 2020. Please let me know if anyone sees an issue with these dates?
We will block off the route around the Wetlands and likely the permissive path for these 3 days for the works. I will send something around to Hinxton and Ickleton under separate cover.
Lar, can we get a poster made to put on the signs?
Also, I don't believe we have our normal February Wetlands meeting in the diary - Lar, can you arrange something if we haven't and send around an invite?
Many thanks,
Sarah

Dear All,
Please could you let me know if anyone foresees any issues with work being done on the Wetlands the week of the 3rd Feb 2020?
We are planning 3 days to finish off the large pond (1) and taking out a number of trees around the boundary of pond 1 and the western edge of pond 4 (where there is the large tree belt). We will not be doing anything with pond 3 as requested and unlikely to do anything with pond 4 this year to reduce the impact on the area.
What would be the latest that we would want to do any works on the ponds perimeters, especially with ground nesting birds etc.?
Thanks,
Sarah
